The polls may be closed and elections won across the country but pro bowl voting continues for DeMeco Ryans, Karlos Dansby and Evan Mathis. Fans may cast their vote by visiting NFL.com and clicking on the Pro Bowl link. Fans can also vote DeMeco Ryans as the Pepsi/NFL Defensive Rookie of the Week by clicking on the following link www.nfl.com/rookies/popup. Voting for the Pepsi/NFL Defensive Rookie of the Week concludes at 4 p.m. on Thursday with the winner being announced on Friday. DeMeco continued to set the pace for defensive rookies as he compiled 10 tackles and 1 sack last Sunday in a 14-10 loss to the Giants. With 73 tackles and 58 of those solo, Ryans leads all rookies in both categories and ranks #4 and #1 respectively across the league. With half of the season now in the books, DeMeco was a unanimous choice this week for mid-season Defensive Rookie of the Year honors and is now the leading candidate to take the end of season title as the NFL’s Defensive Rookie of the Year. ESPN, espn.com, foxsports.com, NFL network, nfl.com and Sports Illustrated were among the media outlets to give DeMeco their mid-season Defensive Rookie of the Year honors. Ryans and the Texans (2-6) will travel to Jacksonville on Sunday for a match-up with the Jaguars. Houston defeated Jacksonville 27-7 a few weeks ago. Karlos Dansby (Auburn), 3rd season, Linebacker, Arizona Cardinals Dansby took advantage of a bye week to head back to Alabama and watch Auburn take on Arkansas State. Karlos was inactive two weeks ago with a hip flexor injury but is expected to be in the lineup when Arizona hosts Dallas on Sunday.
Shaud Williams (Alabama), 3rd season, Running back, Buffalo Bills Shaud saw action last Sunday as the Bills hosted Green Bay and provided support on special teams and was credited with one tackle. Williams and the Bills travel to Indianapolis on Sunday to face the undefeated Colts. Evan Mathis (Alabama), 2nd season, Offensive Guard, Carolina Panthers Evan was able to celebrate his 25th birthday with family and friends in Alabama as the Panthers enjoyed a bye. After sustaining a shoulder injury against Dallas in Week 8, Mathis is expected to be at his usual starting right guard position when Carolina hosts Tampa Bay on Monday night. Kindal Moorehead (Alabama), 4th season, Defensive Tackle, Carolina Panthers Like his teammate Evan Mathis, Kindal returned to Alabama during the bye week. Kindal and his family traveled to Tuscaloosa on Saturday to watch the Alabama and Mississippi State game. Charlie Peprah (Alabama), Rookie, Safety, Green Bay Packers Peprah was inactive against Buffalo last Sunday. Due to injuries in the defensive secondary, Charlie should be on the active roster this week when Green Bay travels to Minnesota. Anthony Bryant (Alabama), 2nd season, Defensive Tackle, Tampa Bay Buccaneers Anthony continues to work as a member of the Buccaneers practice squad. |
